In this video we introduce LumenRT, export our first 3D model into a LiveCube, set the terrain, and do a little prep work on our tropical island paradise.

Paul, remind me of the address for the ftp site so I can send you the model. I am hoping my preference for Lumen on a single machine will be a better bet than trying to do fly-through animations on a render farm with ABD. Images are still better quality in ABD, but the speed of rendering in Lumen is hard to beat. I think if I can get over the hump with the lighting I will use it a lot.
#LUMENRT TUTORIAL SOFTWARE#
Over all, I have found the software easy to learn, and it is really quick to create an environment and get it populated with people, cars, trees etc which makes it quite realistic. I agree with your comments about better documentation, so far it has been quick and easy to do the basics following the video tutorials on the web, but the real nitty-gritty is not well documented.
#LUMENRT TUTORIAL FULL#
If there is some other reason why I can't set the model object for full lighting, I'd really like to hear about it - I am tearing my hair out!Īs for the video RAM requirements Karol, we have bought a 6GB NVIDIA for use with Lumen and it is handling it quite well so far. I think this is the cause of the darkness in the interior scenes, but I have not been able to get to the bottom of it - it is almost as if my LumenRT is running in demo mode, or at least has some settings disabled as I cannot upload our company logo either. Objects can be enabled to accept high quality lighting, or not - in my case I am not able to set the model to accept high quality lighting. Once you export a model form ABD it comes into the Lumen space as an object. It does seem to save the video clip more quickly afterwards, about an hour compared to 3 hours. Honestly though I am not convinced the time it takes is worth it for anything higher than Full so I am disinclined to follow up on that. On the higher settings, I have found it crashes. This is really time-consuming - on Standard my model took 2 hours, on Full it took about 3 hours.
#LUMENRT TUTORIAL UPDATE#
I have discovered that you need to update the lighting settings for a model in order to get more complex lighting. The other problem I am having is that the option to add our company logo is greyed out - any help here please? I have exhausted all the on-line information, I hope someone with more experience than I can shed some light on the problem (no pun intended!). I have also noted that as soon as I update the indirect lighting settings to standard or full, some faceting of curved objects occurs - the tanks in the model become quite jagged, which is not acceptable. I am not able to set the model object to receive high quality lighting as the option is greyed out, I am not sure why this is. With Full lighting it is quite dark inside. In Standard it is brighter, but almost appears over-exposed. I have tried real time, standard and full lighting, see attached examples. The only way I can see any light at all is to turn the daylight off - the lights are then visible, but pretty dull even at 100% power. I have put lighting inside the shed, but whatever I do the interior light seems very ineffectual. It is essentially a small industrial shed with equipment in it. I have a model created in AECOSIM which I have exported to Lumen and placed in an environment. I am hoping this is a really silly question asked by a newbie, but I am struggling to come to grips with the lighting settings in LumenRT 2015. I have also posted this on the e-On software forum, but I am hoping someone on this forum may also be able to help me.
